DRAT

As the final proyect of PEI in November 2008, we decided with Carlos Hernandez, the head of PEI and Cesar Ramirez, the Director for the Aesthetics department to do a large scale building proyect, in a public space. The elements for this construction were the collective design (no author), the criticism toward classic architecture forms, the randomness of the proces and the invasion of public space in the faculty area.

The group of students were sceptical, but motivated and after a few took the initiative the rest followed suit. The building took three days (long weekend). We had asked for permission to make a structure for a presentation (never told them it would be this big), so the security guards didn't bother us much.

The structure grew steadily through the wekend, and actually became a lot bigger than we anticipated. We grew out of the floor to the buildings and hung to the facades. All this without damaging te buildings in any way. The structure was self-supporting, and because of its design it was over structured. This meant it to be quite safe, even thought it looked very random.
